My favorite Cat Scratcher isn't on sale any more!
Cats need to scratch. Their claws are like sheaths and as the claws grow, the top layer needs to come off to reveal the layer underneath. Having scratchers around helps save my furniture and helps Buster be happier (I wish I'd figured that out before he destroyed the arms of my couch, Lol!). Now he has this scratcher next to the couch and other scratchers elsewhere and never scratches the couch.
Both Buster and I love this scratching post so much!
Now, having tried to find it for sale on-line, I've found it doesn't seem to be available anywhere!
I don't know what I'm going to do when it's time to replace this one.
Oh well, I'm going to write about it anyway. I love it!
It's a catopia 35 inch black scratching post.
It came in pieces and I had to put it together.
It's all black, which I like, it blends in next to the black couch and doesn't stand out.
Buster loves it, he gets to stretch! Most cat posts aren't tall enough for him to stretch out and this is the tallest scratching post we have.
It's very solid and can take him pulling on it without wobbling at all.
When I come in the apartment, he will go to this scratching post and stretch all the way up with happiness and ask to be picked up.
I found a picture on the web. It looks like this:
When he wore out the sisal near the top, I took it apart. The center is two sisal posts screwed together. I re-glued the sisal on the part that had come off, and switched the top and the bottom posts. This kept it still looking good and gave him all new sisal to stretch with. This has given us twice the usage! Buster likes the shorter, higher ball to play with. He doesn't use the longer one. He likes reaching.
Jackson Galaxy from the show "My Cat From Hell" says that different cats like different kinds of scratchers, that some will like to scratch flat, some tall, and some angled, etc... Buster definitely likes the tall scratchers, but will occasionally use a scratcher that's flat too.
